Study Carrel Policies and Regulations

  • In general, study carrels in the Library are reserved for Emeritus Faculty, College Committees, or for faculty who have no private space in which to work.

  • Applications for studies should be made in writing to the Director of the Duggan Library, preferably by email to: gibson@hanover.edu.

  • Studies will be assigned for one academic year. A study holder may apply for renewal at the end of the assigned period.

  • Study keys may be signed out from the Circulation Desk and should be returned there before leaving the building.

  • Study keys are not be loaned or given to anyone else.

  • Studies have been furnished and equipped for faculty use. No furniture is to be introduced into them, except by arrangement with the Director's Office.

  • Food/beverage applicances of any kind (for example, a coffee pot) are prohibited.

  • The use of tobacco is prohibited in the Duggan Library.

  • Library materials that are not properly checked out may be removed from studies and returned to the circulating collection.

  • Unassigned carrels are open for the daily use of any patron of the library on a first-come, first-served basis. In such cases, materials (library and personal) brought into the study carrel must be removed upon leaving.
