Ordering Materials for the Duggan Library
Faculty members, as determined by their departments, will have an allocation to be used for purchase of library materials in the faculty member's specific areas of interest and teaching within the discipline.
Faculty may place orders for materials through March 5, 2010.
After March 6, any money remaining will be reallocated to the Library.
Order requests may be submitted (1) on the book order form located on the Library's web page, (2) on printed order forms available either from the Director's Office or at the Library's Circulation Desk, or (3) by marking and signing catalogs appropriately. Printed forms, catalogs, or questions about ordering materials should be sent to the Director of the Library (Ken Gibson) or to the Acquisitions Assistant (Mary Royalty).
Out of print materials may be requested, with the understanding that every effort will be made to obtain them before the end of the fiscal year. Orders for out of print items still outstanding at the end of the fiscal year will be returned to the faculty member for review. The faculty member may reorder from the next year's funds or may place the item on an ongoing Library Want List for eventual purchase with general funds.
We would prefer that faculty not place an order for materials that are not yet published unless they are certain that the item will actually be produced during the fiscal year. If an item does not become available during the fiscal year, the order will be returned to the faculty member for reconsideration and reorder on the next year's funds.
Orders are placed through the Library's automated system and will show in the online catalog with a status of On Order. This status will change to Received, when the item has come to the Library, and will have a call number when it has been added to the collection. You may view newly cataloged items by following the information found on the library's web site at http://library.hanover.edu/newtitlelist.html.
To receive priority treatment, orders placed for reserve, or that require rush cataloging, must be clearly indicated as such. If you wish to be notified when reserve/rush items are cataloged please specify this request on your order. Please note that we cannot guarantee a specific date for rush cataloging of materials. However, to better ensure materials will be available when needed, orders should be placed as far in advance as possible.
